While most of the people were fast asleep
and shepherds were tending their master’s sheep
an angel appeared – Good news he did bring.
He told them of Jesus – a Savior and King.
The men were shaking and trembling with fear
when suddenly a heavenly host did appear.
They were praising God and talking of peace
for all men with whom God is pleased.
So leaving their flocks and in a great haste,
went into the city to search out the place
where Jesus was born as the angel did say
and there they did find him asleep on the hay.
Now as the shepherds related their story
of seeing the Savior in all his glory
they praised God for all they had seen
and knew in their hearts that they had visited the King.
