JONAH

Now God called Jonah – a preacher man
to warn the people in a distant land
about God’s judgement of their evil men
and of great destruction because of sin.
But Jonah tried to run from God that day
and hid in a boat going the opposite way.
So God rocked the boat with a windy blast.
Everyone thought they’d breathed their last.
The sailors tossed Jonah to a watery grave
But God sent a fish his life to save.
In the belly of the fish he spent 3 days
not knowing where he was so he prayed and prayed.
The fish spit Jonah out onto dry land
so he went to Nineveh and convinced every man
to turn to God and repent and pray.
And even their King was saved that day.
Then God changed His mind and spared the town
but ole Jonah felt that God let him down.
He thought the Gentiles deserved a worse fate
and his anger at God was so very great.
He wanted to die, but God had a plan
to teach ole Jonah to love every man.
