I heard these words and it changed the rest of my life, “You cannot live the Christian life, don’t even try. God never intended you to live the Christian life by trying hard and harder. He sent the Holy Spirit to live inside of you, to live the Christian life through you as you abide (rest) in Him.” Major Ian Thomas

These are some of the most special words I have ever heard. You see, the Christian life is far more than what most of us have been taught. The true Christian life is a heavenly life on earth as we let the Holy Spirit have unhindered way with us.

Where from Scripture do we see this?

John 14:20 – “In that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you.”

John 15:4-5 – “Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me. 5 “I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.”

Notice again verse 20 – “… and I in you.”

This is the secret of the Spirit-filled life. Resting in Christ (the Holy Spirit), let Him have all there is of you.
