Does God Love Me?

DOES GOD LOVE ME?

The short answer is, absolutely!

The question here isn’t usually “Does God love me?”, but rather, “How much does God love me, and is His love for me based on me as a person or on my actions?”

This is a major spiritual stumbling block. We, as humans, tend to see God as loving just the same way love. We love conditionally. We base our love on the personality, actions, appearance, or any other of a myriad of arbitrary conditions. God is NOT like that at all. One of His attributes is IMMUTABILITY. He does not change. He can’t love you any more or any less. His love is CONSTANT. His love is also INFINITE, just as He is. His love is immeasurable. That’s a powerful thought. His love has always existed because He is ETERNAL. So, let’s answer the question from God’s ETERNAL, never-changing perspective.

How much does God the Father love you?

John 17:23- “I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.”

The Father loves you with His eternal, infinite, and immutable love to the same degree as He loves Jesus. (This truth changed my life. I remember thinking, “WOW!”)

How much does God the Son love you?

John 15:9 – “As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love.”

Jesus Christ loves you with the same eternal, infinite, and immutable love to the same degree that the Father loves Him. That’s what I’d call being surrounded by love.

How much does God the Holy Spirit love you?

Romans 5:5 – “And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.”

He loves you enough to live in you and to bring that same eternal, infinite, and immutable love into you so that it can be shed abroad toward others.

To think, we are the conduits for God’s INFINITE, IMMUTABLE, and ETERNAL LOVE, not only to a lost and dying world, but to our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. What a mind-blowing concept. This is LOVE from God’s perspective.
