Abundance. In Merriam-Webster’s dictionary, the word abundance means to have an adequate amount; affluence or wealth; or a relative degree of plentifulness.
When you think of God, do you think of Him as one who works or gives in abundance? As one who is excessive or abounding in what He does for you and for me?
When I read the Bible, I see how God works and His character, and I am so encouraged as I see His promises. Let’s look at some of these together.
God’s Love:
Romans 8:38-39 says, “And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
God tells us that His love is so abundant that no power anywhere or at any time can ever separate us from His love. Never. For all eternity.
God’s Forgiveness:
Psalm 103:12 says, “He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west.”
If you start at a point and head west, you will never actually head east again. It is an infinite trajectory you will follow. God tells us that His forgiveness of our sins is so great, so abundant, that He removes them to the same endless degree as this same trajectory.
God’s Provision:
Ephesians 3:20 says, “Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.”
God’s provision for your needs is so abundant, that it exceeds the very best and the very most you can imagine. No matter how grand a plan you have for yourself, God’s plan and ability to make it happen is greater than yours.
Summary:
As you have read through these verses, I pray that you are encouraged by how abundant God’s love, His forgiveness, and His plan and provision for you are. God holds nothing back. When He loves, He loves you unconditionally and forever. When He forgives you of your sins, it is forever and so complete that it can never be brought back on you. When He works His will in your life, it is so great that you cannot even imagine it.
Father, thank you for being a God who abundantly and infinitely loves me, forgives me, and works out your plan for my life! I cannot even understand how incredible your ways are, but I know it is true because you say so in your Word. I simply trust you and thank you for this. In Jesus’s name. Amen.
